Day 1: Just Getting Started

At around 9:30pm, we stood on the shore of the Atlantic on the Coney Island Beach. This is where the journey began. We walked 11 miles to downtown Manhattan and arrived at our dear friend Ben's apartment at 3:40 am. Along the way, we met an awesome woman named Heather who took an interest in our journey and told us about her community in Brooklyn. We crossed the Brooklyn Bridge, which looks magnificent at night.
