Day 100: Texas Views

We lounged around in the motel room in the morning, using the fact that it was raining as a nice excuse not to get going. A little before 1pm, the manager knocked on the door to see if we were staying another night. We figured it was time to get going, and left shortly after. Sam picked up another flat and fixed it while I (James) returned the motel key at the gas station and stocked up for the road (we would not be able to restock for 40 miles). We then headed down the road to Mel’s Diner, where we got all of our calories for the day. We then sat in some rocking chairs outside the diner before hitting the road around 5pm. In order to make up for our late start, we walked 21 miles with only a short stop along the way. The night walking was fairly peaceful and there were hardly any cars around. My cell reception did come in and out, which has been happening more frequently ever since we arrived in Texas. We set up camp around midnight on what seemed to be some kind of construction site off of the road.
