Today I (Sam) woke up hungry, and there was no better place to be for this than next to a gas station. I walked for about 5 minutes before reaching a gas station which featured the alleged “World Famous” Laguna Burger. This set the expectations very high, and I was skeptical that they would be met. I was proven wrong, as the Laguna Burger was so good that I ordered a second one. James and I ended up spending a good deal of time at the gas station, mainly to ensure that we had a quiet spot to meet with someone from the Night Ministry to discuss our fundraiser. We also met some people who had recognized us from the news broadcast the morning before! One of these individuals, a man named Frank who managed the security at a nearby casino, gifted us a case of water. Due to our late start, we planned to walk 15 miles. James and I were on the interstate, and I noticed a weird tumor in my tire that I prayed would not act up. We made it about 3 miles before my tire exploded. There was a sizable and I knew I needed a new tire. I called the police for a ride back to the gas station, and I was lucky enough to catch a Lyft from there to get back to a Walmart in Albuquerque that sold 16 inch tires. I bought a new white tire and was able to get back to the spot on the interstate where my tire blew. James set up his tent already, and I followed suit and went to bed. It is interesting how basically every week, some event occurs which makes it difficult for us to reach our 150 mile per week goal. This was just one example.
