Sam’s Day
Today was honestly a pretty great day. I woke up on the side of the interstate, relieved to see that the traffic had decreased significantly since yesterday. There was a diner a few miles up the road that I planned to stop at. Upon walking in, I knew that I would spend at least a few hours there. They had the Brazil v. Serbia World Cup match on, and the place smelled quite nice. I ordered two entrees, one being pork chops and eggs and the second being steak and eggs. I ended up spending about three hours at the diner before heading back out on my way. I stopped at the gas station next door to grab a few snacks and water as well. There were a few sections where I was able to walk on the service road, but most of my walking today was done on the interstate. This time around, I was much more fearful of getting pulled over by an officer than I was getting hit by a car. This would eventually happen after sunset, which was surprising. The officer was very kind, as usual, and asked me what I was doing. When I explained the situation to him, he said that I was technically still allowed to walk because I was walking with something on wheels. This was honestly very strange, as it seemed to contradict everything that I had heard before, but I did not mind at all. I found a golf club at one point on the shoulder too and decided to carry it along. Part of my motivation to walk today was my excitement for the Wales v. Iran match that would be happening at 2am. I listened to a lot of content regarding the match today, and was ecstatic to get in the tent after a long day to watch the match. I found a great spot next to the highway, covered by a large tree, to set up my tent. I got myself settled in and got ready to watch the match.
Today was honestly such a relief from yesterday. Yesterday was easily one of the scariest days of the trip in terms of Thanksgiving traffic. I was sick of walking, and was cursing myself for the situation I was in. Today on the other hand, I spent 3 hours in a wonderful diner with a bunch of families clearly excited for their Thanksgiving roadtrips. I allowed myself to indulge in a lot of food, and watched a great World Cup match. Today was very much a needed rebound.

James’ Day
I had a relaxing day of lounging on the couch, watching the World Cup and football, and monitoring Sam’s walking progress on Life360. I had a pleasant Thanksgiving dinner with my family and enjoyed being able to go to bed early for the first time in awhile.
