Day 166: Sand Sand Sand

I (Sam) woke up covered in sand from the absolutely disgusting amount of wind last night. I genuinely thought I saw every earthly challenge possible on this trip: rain, snow, mountains, rocky terrain, mud, and snow, to name a few. Now we dealt with 40 mph winds with gusts upwards of 60 mph. I made sure to stake the tent down last night as best I could to prevent it from collapsing. Anyways, James and I slept in my tent because we could only afford to set up one. He left early, and I planned to watch the Iran v. USA game in my tent. The game started at 11am, and things got off to a rocky start. A park ranger came around to check in and notified me that I could camp on the grounds for a maximum of two weeks. Good thing I would be leaving in a few hours. Iran lost, and I was absolutely heartbroken. I wanted to put my head in a ditch, to put things lightly. I begrudgingly packed up my tent and headed off on my way. The walk was somewhat beautiful and thankfully easy. I eventually reached a Chipotle, where I ordered two bowls once again, this time realizing the price hike since the last time I had chipotle back in Chicago. After finishing my bowls, I found a nice spot to sleep next to the interstate and went to sleep.

It can be very challenging walking with other things on my mind. The Iran loss is a good example of this.
