We left the wonderful Gordon home after taking our last showers in the morning. Shadley left us with some snacks to take along with us, and we were on our way. The day was relatively uneventful until we met a new friend. As I (Sam) was walking along a backroad with James slightly ahead, a baby goat began following me. I figured it would run back home after a few minutes, but it stuck by. After taking it back to its yard and even knocking on the door to check if anyone was home, I had to keep walking. The goat followed, and I soon found James resting at a bridge. We were excited for our new companion and decided to name him Chop. We did some goat research to figure out what to feed him and made a Walmart trip after settling by the Paris Presbyterian Church for the night to get Chop a cage, kale, carrots, and a banana. Given that Chop could potentially be a long term member of our crew, we even purchased a leash and collar. Unfortunately there was a massive thunderstorm that night with a tornado only half a mile away. Chop got pretty wet despite being under my rain fly. He was also startled by the thunder, so we fed him kale throughout the storm to keep him distracted. It was a sleepless night to say the least. For Chop though, it was worth it.
