After over 17 hours on the road yesterday, we slept in until 10:30am. We made it to Denny’s a mile down the road around noon. We couldn’t contain ourselves and consumed about 3500 calories worth of a food each. We then lay on the grass outside the Denny’s for a few hours as our bodies struggled to digest the food. We left around 4pm, taking another nice long break at the Dollar General 3 miles down the road. I (James) sat on the ground in the middle of the store while Sam used the bathroom. As we were leaving, the cops showed up. They had been called by the store manager, who was not a fan of us lounging around inside the store. As usual, the cops were friendly to us as we explained our walk and what we were doing. We walked another 12 miles until we reached Hopewell Free Methodist Church around 11pm. It was a lighter day but we were happy to at least walk 16 miles, or slightly more than 1 Samy-unit (1 Samy-unit is roughly equivalent to 15 miles. The Samy-unit is named after our friend Samy, who walked 15 miles in one day in New York earlier this summer).
