In the morning, we woke up to a cop outside our tents. He had received a call about people sleeping in the park. As usual, we explained our situation and the cop was friendly. About 10 miles in, a man named Brian stopped next to us on the shoulder. He handed us a gallon of water and an assortment of snacks for the road, which he picked up for us after seeing us walking along the road. We thanked him for his kindness and walked a few miles before a nice long rest in a shady spot off the road. Then we walked another 12 miles to hit 25 for the day, stopping at Walmart to do some shopping. Sitting outside the Walmart eating Chef Boyardee and frozen mashed potatoes, we were gifted Gatorades by one man and $15 dollars each by another. It was still tough being back on the road away from the comforts of our temporary home in Columbus, but people’s kindness to us throughout the day certainly made it easier. That night, we set up camp under a nice pavilion by a church.
