We set out at 10:30am after Sam bought a $9 pair of sneakers from Walmart in hopes to alleviate his blistering problem. We walked the first 13 miles without any substantial breaks, stopping for our big midday rest at McDonald’s. At McDonald’s, two women named Connie and Jennifer asked what we were doing. We chatted with them for a bit, and they gave us $20 each before they were on their way. We left McDonald’s after about an hour long break. A few hours later, we found ourselves walking by an Air Force base on the outskirts of Dayton. I (James) imagined myself stealing one of the planes GTA (Grand Theft Auto) style. A mile or so later, we saw a pig in a pen right off the road. This was a thrill, as we had seen many farm animals along the trip, including horses, cows, goats, sheep, and chicken. However, seeing a pig for the first time on the walk was exhilarating, as it happens to be both of our favorite animal. We walked another few miles and hit 25 for the day by 8:30pm. We pitched our tents in Rip Rap Road Park, which was a pleasant spot.
