In the morning a cop pulled into the church parking lot by our tents. As usual, we explained our story and he was friendly to us. We set out around 11am, and 4 miles in we crossed the state line into Indiana! In the town of Richmond, we stopped at a Golden Corral buffet to celebrate. We ate like pigs, spending 6 hours there eating intermittently. We also spent time chatting with our waiter Jeff once he finished his shift. Right as we were getting back on the road, Sam’s stroller had a flat tire. After a short delay, we continued on into the night. With 5 miles left to go, Sam started having serious tummy problems in the form of explosive diarrhea. He had to relieve himself on the side of the road, and I could hear the struggle from where I was waiting. He said he could walk no longer, so we turned back and walked half a mile to a church we had passed to stop for the night. We did around 17 miles, but we saved ourselves about 3 miles of walking by avoiding Google Maps detours.
