After an enjoyable rest day in Crietz Park in Cambridge City, we set back out on the road. Sam had to use the bathroom, so I (James) headed out a bit in front. 5 miles down the road, I saw a man named Silas biking toward me along the shoulder. He asked me what I was doing, and I told him I was walking to San Diego. He said that he was biking from Colorado to D.C. We hung out on the side of the road for awhile, and I got to learn a bit more about him. He is 28 years old, and has been traveling out on the road for the last 10 years. He supports himself financially by performing on his guitar (which was strapped to the back of his bike) at truck stops and other various places along the way. Sam caught up half an hour later and joined us for another hour or so beside the road. Eventually, it was time to get going, so we wished Silas well on his travels and continued walking. A bit further down the road, we noticed a foul smell. An instant later, a truck full of pigs drove right by us! It was our second pig siting in the past view days, which we took as an good omen for the rest of our journey. After another 14 miles, we stopped at Pic N Save Market in Knightstown, IN. We were able to stock up on food and water, and they also had a nice menu of very inexpensive food to order from (I had a tasty 1/2 lb burger for $4.50). We also talked for awhile with Robin, Dan, and Gretchen, who worked at the store and took an interest in our trip. We headed out around 9pm, and walked 12 more miles until we finally reached a pleasant park off the road at 12:45am. We walked 31 miles in total.
