We woke up to the sound of cows mooing. We had set up in the dark the night before and did not realize the church was right next to a cattle ranch. I (James) got going a little after 10 while Sam was still packing up. After I was gone, he nearly peed right in front of some people who came by to check on us. I crossed the border into Oklahoma before stopped at Turtle Shop in Wyandotte about 12 miles in. At the shop, I talked with a man named Brian. He took interest in the trip and said he’d seen someone else passing through the area a few years ago doing the same as thing. I was there for about an hour when Sam showed up. After going to the bathroom, I was back on my way. I walked 14 miles until I saw some storage units around 8pm. As usual, the doors were unlocked. I went to a nearby subway and waited for Sam to arrive as I basked in the glory of a clinical walking performance. He got there an hour and a half later. Apparently he had struggled with headaches and fatigue for much of the day. We stealthily went into the storage unit and got tucked away in our sleeping bags.
