Day 87: Awfully Quiet in the Tent

Today was an exciting day. It was the first Sunday of the NFL season, and we were excited to see our fantasy football teams in action. We also figured the entertainment of the games would make walking a breeze. We left the church around 9am excited for the games to start at noon. A few miles in, I (James) saw a billboard advertising a 2 for $2.50 deal for McChickens at the McDonald’s up ahead. This was too good of a deal to pass up, so I stopped at the McDonald’s shortly before 11am while Sam kept going. I was able to order two bacon egg and cheese McGriddles, as McDonald’s was still serving breakfast for a few more minutes. At 11am, the menu switched to lunch, and I ordered 6 McChickens for the road. I felt like I was getting the best of both worlds. At 11:30, I got going again. I stopped again early in the afternoon when I saw Sam resting on the side of the road. At around 3pm, we began walking again. I tuned into the Vikings Packers game on local Vikings radio. I got to listen to my best player, Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, produce 184 yards and two touchdowns to get my team back in the game. This definitely gave me a nice boost walking. I got to Dollar General in the town of Luther around 7pm and stocked up on snack food for the Sunday night game. I set up in the city park right next to the store. When it got dark and actually a bit cold, I got in my tent. Sam arrived a bit later, after taking a few breaks on his walk and stopping at Dollar General for awhile. His fantasy team had a dismal showing that day, and things were awfully quiet in the other tent.
