We woke up on the side of the road on the outskirts of Weatherford, OK around 8:15am today. Weirdly, while the sun was beating down on my tent, I (Sam) was not baking. It feels like as soon as we left Oklahoma City, the landscape has become much more plains-like with a lot of wind. It is very beautiful, although a headwind can sometimes prove challenging. Still, this reduces the discomfort that can come on a 95 degree day. We stopped at a restaurant called China King Buffet where we spent several hours and loaded ourselves up with fuel. I picked up a flat tire before getting there, so I had to take care of that before leaving. The flat tires have become a problem with me, as our new regions have had a lot more thorny plants on the road. It is also weird though, because James has had only 4 flats to my ~10. After patching it up, we stopped at a nearby gas station to stock up before going another 9 miles to a nice spot off the side of the road to call it a night. The panhandle of Oklahoma has been very spread out, and we really only go through one town per day. This is something that we will have to take into account once we no longer see towns once per day and need to load up even more.
