I (James) started out around 8:15am while Sam was still in the tent. I spent the first 7 miles of the walk reading through a mass of texts sent in the fantasy football group chat the night before. The walk was fairly pleasant in the morning, as it was not too hot and there weee hardly any cars on the road, which ran adjacent to Interstate 40. However, as I was walking I heard the sound of something dragging on the ground. I looked under my stroller and saw a melted candy bar protruding through a hole in the lower basket of the stroller. I moved some things around to try and make sure nothing else fell through the hole. I stopped at Friends Pub & Pizza in Canute 11 miles in. After staying a bit over an hour and having some fettuccine Alfredo, I started walking again. When I was trudging the stroller through a bumpy gravel road, I again noticed things falling out of the stroller. I took everything out of the bottom compartment and placed it on top of the stroller. I then headed to Walmart, which was fortunately only another 20 minutes away. At Walmart, I grabbed some duck tape to fix the stroller. I also stocked up on food and water, as it would be 30 miles before our next place to get more. The solar charger was also not working, so I bought two extra portable chargers. I then went to Burger King to wait for Sam. We were 17 miles in, but decided to call it a day and set up camp on some grass by the road nearby.
